When I purchased my beloved handmade brass paintbox (from the Little Brass Box Co) a couple of years ago, I was determined to limit my palette to the 16 colours it held, and no more. That is until I discovered the delights of the Schmincke range of watercolour paints back in the summer, and then also realised that inside each section of my paint box, 2 half pans could be (just) fitted in, so expanding my little box to 32 colours - happy days!
Even more serendipity was that Jackson's Art Supplies, where I purchase most of my art materials, have had a bigs sale on Schmincke watercolours, which I took full advantage of, of course!!
Here are some of the colours that I have bought to add to my palette, chosen for the practical way they can be incorporated into my existing range of colours, and for how they simply fill me with joy just looking at them, let alone use them when painting. Schmincke make paints which are beautifully vibrant and rich in pigment and smooth to use, and I've loved each and every one I've used so far.
I'm looking forward to experimenting with my new extended palette, and discovering how my paintings evolve over the coming weeks.
