I love old buildings, the older the better! Living in England fortunately means that there are plenty to choose from, including this one. This is St John’s Chapel, the oldest building in Belper (my home town). It dates from the 12th century so certainly fits into the ‘old’ category!
It was a delight to paint - those ancient stone walls bathed in morning sunlight, and lots of lovely green foliage and flowers to add interest. A lovely mornings painting!
So, when it’s too dark to paint outside, what do you do?
Paint the dog, that’s what!
And a sleeping Labrador is even better...
Plein air painting at the beautiful rose gardens at Hopton Hall, in Derbyshire, not far from where I live.
